Awards and Achievements
The Honourable Company encourages and recognises achievements in Gloucestershire’s communities and businesses, from apprenticeships to the arts, sport to education, community development to heritage skills:
A donation was made to the Three Choirs Festival to fund the formation of a new youth choir.
A substantial investment has been lodged with Gloucestershire Community Foundation Grassroots fund.
Community Service awards of £500 have been made to three Cadet units, and individual awards of £250 made to two cadets at the Lord-Lieutenant’s awards ceremony on October 2nd, 2011. Three members of the Company have offered Cadet forces access to their land for training, following the withdrawal of facilities by the MoD.
Alternative funding has been provided for the county’s “Vibrant Village of the Year” awards after a private sponsor withdrew.
Contribution made towards publication of the county’s Catalogue of Paintings in Public Ownership, which was launched at Highgrove, in the presence of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.
Encouraging the creation with Hartpury College of a Rowing Training centre in time for the 2012 Olympics.
Promoted the hugely successful Christmas Science Lectures for the county’s schools.
